Community led customary land tenure mapping exercise in Manipur

Description of Project: RNBA in partnership with Center for Land Governance, NRMC aimed to strengthen its engagements and enhance impact around land rights enhancement. Keeping in pace with the changing economic context, increasing aspirations towards individual tenure for shared prosperity accruing from development process, willingness of customary and religious authorities to contribute to enhanced tenure security without undermining the time-tested customary institutions and tenure and also to respond to global trend towards gender equity and sustainable development, RNBA seeks to enhance its involvement and contribution in the land rights sector in Manipur.

As part of the project, CLG had undertaken the following assignments.

  • CLG elucidated the importance meeting/workshop of tenure study and tenure on land tenure mapping with the Client, Partner mapping with RNBA NGOs, local partners, community and its partner NGOs representatives.

  • Competed pilot exercise on land the complexity, geography, mapping with customary tenure practices, land partners and use types, demography and community dynamics of community.

  • CLG consulted with partner NGOs (with RNBA) in designing appropriate land tenure certificate in consultation with partners

  • Compilation and preparation Land Right and Land tenure certificates Certificate.

  • Accommodated the special provisions as per village/village chief/head/customary laws Design Computer Assisted Customize android Personal Interview application mobile/Tablet based (CAPI) for collecting house mapping platform to hold data.

  • Carried out land mapping.

  • Application software designing.
