Making Stewardship Visible

To make stewardship visible, Landstack developed the Stewardship Assessment Toolkit, combining participatory and scientific methods to surface stewardship evidence. Shaped by four iterations across more than 30 villages, it has grown from forest ecosystems into agricultural, pastoral and coastal commons. It is being scaled to over 20 villages in Manipur and Nagaland. The evidence collected also feeds a living dashboard.

BUILDING CAPACITIES

An important strand of our work is equipping communities and CBOs to weigh carbon markets and their risks for themselves, while shifting how external actors see them, from beneficiaries to be served, to stewards whose conservation holds real value.

COALITION BUILDING AND STEWARDSHIP FUND

Coalition-building has been central to the initiative. Over the past two years, we've helped catalyse coalitions at national and regional scales to advance the idea of a stewardship fund as a non-market mechanism for community-led climate action.
