Deepak Sanan

Director

​Deepak Sanan retired from the civil service in 2017. He joined the IAS (Himachal Ptradesh cadre) in 1982. During his career he held positions at different levels in the state and at the centre in various departments including finance, energy, land, health, water, sanitation, urban and rural development, agricuture and allied sectors. He served on the staff of the World Bank for two years as India Country Team Leader of the Water and Sanitation Program from 2005 to 2007. Over years he carried out consulting assignments for the World Bank, DfID, AusAid, WFP- IFAD and others in the various spheres of his expertise. Post retirement he has worked as a Senior Advisor at the NCAER and pioneered the development of the N- Land Records and Services Index in 2020 and 2021. He has been advising the State Capacity Program at the Centre for Policy Research and is a Senior Visiting Fellow at the institution and at IMPRI. He is also associated with the Indian Insitute for Human Settlements as a senior advisor on land, water and sanitation matters.
