Complex land and development challenges cannot be solved by one group alone; they require collective action. Landstack serves as a shared space for "all things land." By hosting strategic meetings and open forums, we bring different groups together to share evidence, build networks and work on practical solutions for land challenges.

 

Our main convening effort is the India Land and Development Conference (ILDC), which marks its 10th edition this year. Over the past decade, ILDC has become a major multi-stakeholder platform. It brings together researchers, government officials, policymakers, civil society organizations, community representatives, donors, private businesses and academic institutions.

 

We focus on connecting people across several key areas:

• Shared Evidence: We bring researchers and field practitioners together to turn data into useful insights, ensuring that land decisions are based on real-world facts.

• Cross-Sector Dialogue: By creating a neutral space for discussion, we help government departments, private companies and local communities discuss land issues and find common ground on development goals.

• Connecting Issues: We encourage learning across different fields including livelihoods, conservation, climate change and planning to better understand how land use affects society as a whole.

 

Through these regular convenings, we help turn separate conversations into a connected narrative. This ensures that policy influencers and partners have access to the diverse viewpoints needed to support clear and sustainable land governance. By sustaining this platform over ten years, we have built a reliable repository of shared knowledge that helps all participants navigate shifting regulations, address institutional gaps and establish scalable practices that balance economic growth with environmental care.
