Odisha Land Rights to Slum Dwellers (OLRSD) Impact Study

Description of Project: The world’s biggest slum titling project in Odisha state in 2017 ensured residents a certificate of property title, which is often the only way to show proof of address, to open a bank account, get a credit from financial institutions, enroll children in schools, and access a range of government benefits. Without it, their financial and social opportunities are significantly impaired. With two years of the project a study by joint collaboration of RMIT University Australia and NRMC is continuing to understand how these slum tilting process is acknowledged by the slum community.

As part of the project, CLG had undertaken the following assignments.

The study also aims at learning what mechanism worked and what not towards the process of slum titling.

Understand the gender roles and participation in the slum titling process

Survey on if the title is being used for availing government entitlements.
