About the Workshop

Land plays a pivotal role in shaping livelihoods and economic development across South Asia, a region with significant dependence on Land- based resources. South Asia, home to nearly a quarter of the world’s population, faces significant interconnected challenges in land governance, climate change, and disaster management. The region's rapid urbanization, tenure insecurity, and unequal land distribution, coupled with rising climate risks and frequent natural disasters, make land administration a critical area of focus. Effective land governance and secure land tenure are essential for reducing poverty, promoting gender equality, and building climate resilience, aligning with key Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goals 1 (No Poverty), 13 (Climate Action), and 15 (Life on Land).

The winter school organized by the Land Management Training Center (LMTC), Nepal, in collaboration with Landstack, India, and International Land Coalition- Asia, and with support from the Centre for Spatial Data Infrastructures and Land Administration (CSDILA), University of Melbourne, and Community Self Reliance Center (CSRC), Nepal is designed to provide specialized training on climate resilient land administration for researchers and practitioners in the South Asian region.
