In India, land is not just property-it is policy, power, and potential.

Land plays a foundational role in shaping development outcomes across urban, peri urban, and rural India. Yet, professionals in real estate, planning, legal services, and governance often engage with land in sectoral silos. Often they miss the legal and administrative landscape and socio-cultural context that determines land availability and value.

As India undergoes rapid urban transformation, the demand for land-informed real estate professionals is growing. While institutions like the National Real Estate Development Council (NAREDCO) have begun acknowledging the training gap, evident in the launch of the National Institute of Real Estate Development (NIRED) in 2023, comprehensive and cross-functional capacity-building program that connect to land across its dimensions and nuances remain scarce.

NITI Aayog’s 2021 report on Urban Planning Capacity Reforms highlighted the urgent need for structured learning on land procurement, development, and management, as well as community- and market-driven land use planning & development. Yet, most onboarding or corporate training programs in the real estate and infrastructure sectors continue to focus on internal processes, with limited exposure to the real-world complexity of land governance.

Demystifying Land Laws, Regulations and Planning for the Real Estate Sector
An interdisciplinary capacity-building program for real-estate professionals
28TH - 30TH November, 2025

About the program

FLAME University, in partnership with the IncLand initiative - jointly anchored by Landstack and IIM Ahmedabad - presents a domain-specific executive education program. This capacity-building effort targets real estate and planning professionals who seek a structured understanding of land as a legal, technical, and strategic asset. The program builds the ethos of the Incland initiative, built on a decade of ecosystem engagement by Landstack, including the India Land Development Conference and collaborations with state training institutions such as YASHADA, Pune, and higher education institutions such as TATA Institute of Social Sciences, Delhi University, IIM Ahmedabad, and FLAME University.

Drawing on Real Estate Player Interviews, Practitioner Surveys and an Interdisciplinary Workshop (Land Matters), this program is built on two integrated learning tracks:

1. Legal Literacy - covering land tenure, title systems, legal documentation, acquisition laws, institutional navigation, and dispute risks.

2. Technical Analysis of Land Potential - including valuation approaches, planning frameworks, map interpretation, land suitability, and spatial overlays.

A program structure that ensures foundational legal fluency and spatial-technical competence for its participants. As a result, we are confident that it will position you to assess, acquire, and develop land strategically
